Custom Homes' Sereno Designed To Enjoy The Outdoors
NAPLES,
Fla. (Jan. 17, 2003) – The Sereno, McGarvey
Custom Homes’ first completed single-family estate
home model at The Estates at TwinEagles, emphasizes outdoor
living, with private garden areas off the master suite and
family room and a 1,172 square foot covered lanai that wraps
around the back of the home. Overlooking a large lake in
the Lochlomont neighborhood, The Sereno’s setting
enhances the outdoor experience.
A three-bedroom, three-and-one-half-bath home, The Sereno
offers 3,877 square feet of air conditioned living space
and 5,942 total square feet, including entry, three-car
garage and covered lanai. This home features the interior
and architectural details of McGarvey Custom Homes’
ultra high-end homes at a price of $1,695,000, furnished,
with interior design by the builder’s in house studio,
Custom Home Interiors.
The Sereno offers a formal entrance – a long paver
stone path that stops at a circular planter area before
turning slightly and continuing to three curved keystone
steps up to the double mahogany-and-glass entry doors accented
with iron and flanked by columns.
The foyer’s 12-foot ceiling has a square tray with
crown molding and a niche with a marble ledge. The main
floor of the foyer – a ceramic tile that resembles
marble and is used throughout the house – is inset
with tumbled marble and ceramic tile with a slate border.
The openness of The Sereno’s floor plan is evident
from the foyer. Ahead, through an arch and down a step,
is the living room with its views of the outdoor areas and
lake. The dining room is to the immediate right, seen through
an archway in the foyer wall, while the master suite foyer
is viewed through an arch to the left. Step into the living
room, and the breakfast nook and family room
come into view.
Faux-finished coffers accent the living room’s 12-foot
ceiling. Four windows and double French doors occupy most
of the far wall and open the room up to the views. Lighted
niches with shelves flank the fireplace, an antique mahogany
piece hand carved with columns and a leaf motif and accented
with a glass screen. Eight-inch baseboards heighten the
formality of the room.
The arched opening from the foyer into the dining room has
a marble ledge. The wall opposite this feature repeats the
arch in a niche that has a faux finish. The dining room
is large enough to seat eight comfortably and offers views
of the front gardens through three windows. Its entry and
perimeter are accented by darker tiles and slate bordered
by tumbled marble mosaics.
The master foyer has a circular tray ceiling accented with
torn paper, and a banquette overlooking the front gardens
is set into an arched window. The foyer serves the master
suite, library and powder bath, which has decorative stone
inlays in the floor, a Novello gold granite countertop and
a stone listello backsplash.
The library departs from a traditional all-wood ambience
for the softness of carpeting and grass cloth. Walnut cabinetry
has built-in shelves above with grass cloth walls, and the
ceiling offers a single tray. French doors are flanked by
sidelights and open onto the covered patio, a narrower extension
of the larger covered lanai.
Double doors open onto the master suite’s vestibule,
which is accented by a niche in the wall. Ahead is the bedroom;
to the left is an arched opening to his-and-her walk in
closets and the bath. The shower has a glass front, a bench,
and is equipped with a large rain head; three body jets
and a hand-held sprayer. The tub is set into a bayed area
with three windows and has a ceramic tile deck and cabinetry
front. Vanities, each with Bernini light marble countertops
and sinks, are positioned on each side of the tub under
a window. Mirrors are set into arched areas above the vanities.
A separate water closet has a bidet.
The master suite has a double tray ceiling. Light switches
on both sides of the recessed headboard wall are positioned
for convenient access from the bed. A single glass door
opens onto the covered patio. A sitting area is naturally
lit by its corner location next to two windows. A door opens
on to the large private garden.
The Sereno’s breakfast nook is set into a curved wall
with large windows overlooking the covered lanai and pool
area. A desk fits into a niche and has cabinetry above.
The tray ceiling is finished with torn paper.
The kitchen has silver sea granite countertops, a multi-colored
Indian slate backsplash with porcelain inserts, under counter
task lighting and a large island with a second sink. Outlets
are painted to match the slate. Cabinetry features both
solid and glass fronts, and includes a unit with four bin-type
storage containers with glass fronts. Glass is used on the
front and back of the cabinetry above the breakfast bar,
creating a see-through effect into the family room. Three
cutouts in the wall above are inset with ornamental iron
– repeating a feature above the side-by-side paneled
refrigerator.
The breakfast bar defines the space between the kitchen
and family room. On the family room side, double French
doors open onto a kidney-shaped courtyard with palm trees,
landscaping, brick pavers, and a privacy wall. A built-in
media center in the family room is set into a nook. Natural
light is provided by three transom windows on the opposite
wall and zero-corner sliding pocketing doors, which open
two walls of the family room onto the covered lanai.
The covered lanai is accessible from five rooms –
the master suite, library, living room, family room and
guest cabana – and is accented with bishop hat pavers
and planters. By wrapping around the rear of the home, from
the guest cabana to master suite, it creates three distinct
covered areas, including the raised covered patio private
to the master suite and library. An uncovered paver deck
surrounds the custom-shaped pool and raised spa.
