Piano
Niche
The wall opposite the piano is a tribute to acclaimed photographer,
Oscar Thompson. Mr. Thompson’s ability to capture nature
in her most vulnerable and captivating moments has given him
world wide notoriety. The late Mr. Thompson took many of his
photographs in his birthplace and home, the Florida Everglades.
Next to the piano is a wall adorned with floral clay sculptures
created by local artist John Serin As you continue down the hall
across from the dining room are arched niches that showcase murals
hand-painted in Europe to depict the Florida floral and fauna.
Above from the groin vaults hang pendants made of scavo glass,
which is glass infused with a sand texture that are manufactured
in Italy. The pendants are enhanced with golden hand-painted
motifs on the ceiling.
Dining Room
The 4’ x 8’ glass oval dining table is ideal for
couples entertaining. The eight chairs feature pairs of each
color represented in the home; sand, amber, sage, and blue. Above
the table the coffered ceiling is fauxed in a golden bronze and
if you look closely subtle dragonflies are integrated into the
finish. The chandelier is made of blown green glass with amber
undertones that illuminate when the piece is lit. The custom
table runner and napkins are made from an iridescent sheer of
amber and blue-green. The custom beaded dragonfly napkin rings
are made of Japanese glass seed beads using a beading technique
called “peyote”. The dining room table centerpiece
consists of glass beaded rose garlands. The colors of the house
are duplicated in the various crystal stemware in the table setting.
The blue-green iridescent drapery silk panels hang on rings with
a slouch pleat from a nickel drapery rod adorned with glass blown
finials from Africa. The drape panels are loosely pulled back
with silk ribbon tiebacks of blue-green and sand. The niche across
from the dining table showcases a Beverly Albright blown glass
vase with tortoise colors and adorned with a glass blown leaf
and copper clay dragonfly. The floral arrangement mimics the
Spider Chrysanthemums in the Sunken Parlor.
