2004 DREAM HOME PROMISES TO TAKE
LUXURY TO NEW
LEVELS
Embracing the New Environment
NAPLES, Fla. – Offering
six water features including a special seating area that combines
elements of fire and water, butterfly and herb gardens, even
a negative-edge bathtub and 450-gallon wall-mounted aquarium,
Home & Condo’s 2004 Dream Home promises to attain
new levels in luxury building, architecture, interior design
and landscape architecture. Details about the home, currently
under construction by McGarvey Custom Homes at The Estates
at TwinEagles in North Naples, are being released by the Dream
Home partners.
The four-bedroom home will offer four full baths, two powder rooms and 6,582
square feet under air. Outdoor living areas, a circular drive-through portico
within a rotunda, two separate garages, an atrium and breezeways bring the total
square footage of the home to 10,787. Its
1.9-acre lakefront homesite offers views of the 16th fairway of the Jack Nicklaus
and Jack Nicklaus II co-designed golf course and The Club at TwinEagles’ 47,000-square-foot
Scottish manor-inspired clubhouse in the distance.
The $5 million home is slated to open in February 2004.
“Since 1990 we’ve produced eight dream homes,” said Lynne Groth,
publisher of custom publications for Gulfshore Media Inc., Home & Condo’s
parent company. “This, our ninth home, is truly a dream home. It incorporates
so many features not seen publicly before in Southwest Florida; features beyond
anyone’s imagination. It really lives up to the slogan, ‘Embracing
the New Environment.’”
“R.G. Designs created an amazing floor plan that has lots of curves and
interesting spaces,” added Dan Gerner, executive vice president of McGarvey
Custom Homes. “There are not a lot of plain square rooms in this home.”
The
floor plan will be enhanced by special outdoor areas, water
features and gardens created by Architectural Land
Designs Inc. and interior design by Robb & Stucky. The Bonita
Bay Group, developer of the 1,115-acre Estates at TwinEagles,
is also a partner in the project.
The Estates at TwinEagles is also the site of Home & Condo’s 2003 Dream
Home, built by London Bay Homes. “We are very pleased to host the Dream
Home for the second consecutive season,” noted Susan Watts, vice president
of The Bonita Bay Group and general manager of The Estates at TwinEagles. “The
2004 Dream Home promises to exceed expectations in showcasing homebuilding trends
and innovations.”
Pockets of intimate outdoor areas and larger gathering places will be positioned
around the Dream Home with multiple levels of decks and covered areas. A covered
veranda will wrap around the leisure room to the outdoor living area with fireplace
and sunken outdoor kitchen, which will be equipped with refrigerator, sink, icemaker,
dishwasher and oversized grill. “Skeeter Beater” screening can be
lowered into place with the push of a button. The home’s hurricane shutters
will also be activated remotely.
“
This house is going to have unbelievable outdoor areas. We’re using water
features to create natural views where there aren’t any,” said Gerner.
A special fountain spot off the veranda combines water and fire. From the veranda,
the water will appear level with the deck and have three bubblers. Water will
flow over the rear wall and disappear behind the back of the built in bench behind
the seating area below. The bench faces a fire pit and the lake beyond, and steps
on either side of the fountain will descend to this area.
A Japanese garden with koi pond and bridge made from a single piece of stone
will provide the backdrop for the kitchen and nook, and be enjoyed from a private
deck off a guest suite. The master retreat will overlook two gardens and special
water features. Breezeways wind along the home’s front façade – from
the portico and two-car garage – to the entry and atrium.
The use of water will be introduced at the entry door, which will open onto the
circular foyer. Ahead will be the sunken parlor and large glass windows looking
out over the pool. The library, powder room and master retreat are found to the
right of the foyer. The formal dining room, leisure room, kitchen and nook are
found to the left.
A shallow water deck with three jets will extend to the parlor window and will
be separated from the pool by a rock bridge made of natural stone. Two sheer
descents will emerge from a rock wall on the left. The parlor will have a two-sided
fireplace that’s also shared by the library and will open to the formal
dining room.
Double French doors from the hallway leading to the master bedroom open onto
the atrium, with its 22-foot tall ceiling and built-in planters. The powder room,
with a backlit onyx countertop, and the library will be found off this hallway.
The library, a six-sided room offering 300 square feet, will have a coffered
ceiling, built-ins and a command center with three television screens set into
one corner.
Four arches will provide a diminishing perspective down the hallway, before ending
at a fifth arch – a window in the master bedroom vestibule, which will
display a dancing water feature and butterfly garden. Water will rise into the
air then splash down into rocks. The bedroom will have a fireplace with French
doors on either side, a coffered ceiling set into a barrel treatment, and a headboard
wall of windows with remote controlled curtains and views of the dancing water
feature and butterfly garden. The suite, measuring more than 340 square feet,
will also feature a separate sitting room with a 180-degree view of the home’s
surroundings, his-and-her closets with washer and dryer and personal valet, and
a morning bar with a window high above.
The bathroom will offer his-and-her water closets, a circular doorless shower
and infinity-edge tub illuminated from within by changing colored lighting. Two
walls of sliding doors in front of the tub will pocket into the walls, opening
onto a covered patio and screened-in garden area and creating the illusion the
tub is outside. A three-tiered fountain in the garden will make the water appear
to flow back into the home.
A groin-vaulted ceiling and three arched niches opposite the formal dining room
accent the hallway leading to the leisure room.
The hallway will provide access to the butler’s pantry and ends just short
of a sunken bar, centrally located between the dining room and leisure room.
A 400-gallon saltwater aquarium will be mounted in one wall.
Sliding glass doors on both sides of the leisure room’s entertainment center
will disappear into walls, opening much of the 624-square-foot room to the veranda
and outdoor living room. A supplemental hallway off of the kitchen leads to the
butler’s pantry, walk-in storage pantry and a second powder room. The home
theater, measuring 16 by 17 feet, will also double as a safe room. A single-car
owner’s garage, next to the portico, is ideally situated for bringing groceries
into the home. The second garage, for two cars, is found on the master retreat
side of the home.
The Dream Homes’ three guest suites enjoy secluded locations. One is found
in a separate cabana off of the leisure room with views of the golf course and
lake; another near the home theater; and the third enjoys private quarters, a
full bath and living room and is separated from the main house by the drive-through
portico.
“
The 2004 Dream Home is designed for outdoor living – a hallmark of the
Southwest Florida lifestyle,” said Groth. “With all these special
places inside and out it’s going to be very difficult for a future owner
to decide just which area to spend more time in!”
The Bonita Bay Group is developing The Estates at TwinEagles in keeping with
its ongoing commitment to meticulous planning, environmental stewardship, integrity
and attention to detail. The community is certified by Audubon International

Communities in America, The Estates at TwinEagles is a low-density community
with an abundance of natural areas. Each of the 66 homes in phase one is situated
to create an extraordinary sense of privacy with view corridors unobstructed
by other homes and lot sizes ranging from one-half to two acres.
The Dream Home project was launched by Home & Condo in 1990 to showcase trends
in architecture, building, interior design and landscape architecture with tours
of the home benefiting local charities. The eight homes to date have raised almost
$1 million for local charities.
